Recently the US administration has been very candid in expressing their displeasure to denounce bail out financial package to save Pakistan’s faltering economy.
Pakistani Prime Minister’s recent visit to Washington to secure funding has come to an abrupt halt because Pakistan has allegedly played some dubious role in Afghanistan’s Taliban takeover. The Intelligence agencies have significant and tangible evidence of the Pakistani deep state’s active role in the march to Kabul by the infamous Taliban reincarnation. Pakistan also refrained from joining US’s Democracy Meet too.
Hence, the US authority has not nodded to offer Pakistan any further cash injection. Since Premier Khan formed his government in 2018, they were rumours that Pakistan sought to US’s help, and Pakistan was also ready to accept the US offer at the cost of scraping the CPEC deal with China.
On the contrary, the US administration augmented that there could have been solid support for the US in Afghanistan from Pakistan. However, it is evident that Pakistan secretly colluded with the fringes of the Taliban fraction in the takeover process, which has immensely infuriated the US secret service, the state department and the Oval Office equally.
Pakistan even appointed an expatriate Pakistani, Moeed Yousuf, like their National Security Advisor to garner a deal with the US government, where Mr Yousuf has heavy clout due to his long association with them. Still, that avenue has not been able to bring any fruition.
On the contrary, they have had to fall back into the lap of the Chinese vast unaccounted-for coffers to rescue Pakistan’s s fledgling fiscal descent through this slippery slope to doom. However, this falling from fire from the frying pan will bring a load of reasons for foreign policy scholars to think that Pakistan is falling into a mammoth ditch of debt trap.
Although Mr Yousuf has succeeded in manipulating the World Bank he has miserably failed to shore up any fruitful assistance from the US administration.
